For the people of Germany, the Peaceful Revolution of 1989 and the fall of the Berlin Wall ushered in a new era. But how were these events perceived outside Germany? What hopes, fears and expectations did they awaken internationally? And how is the Peaceful Revolution remembered outside Germany today? These questions will be discussed with international guests.
The panellists include Anne Rubesame, Étienne François and Basil Kerski. In collaboration with the Bundesstiftung zur Aufarbeitung der SED-Diktatur [Foundation for the Study of Communist Dictatorship in East Germany (GDR)].
